Surf culture gets a bad rap for being exclusive, but most surfers I've met are incredibly welcoming. Respect the lineup and you'll earn respect back.
The ocean humbles you. Every time I think I've figured out surfing, a bigger wave reminds me that I'm just a guest in the water.
